BLS International Services Ltd., a specialist provider for Outsourcing of Visa, Passport and Attestation Services across the globe, operates one of the world’s largest e-governance projects in the state of Punjab, India. BLS International operates, maintains, and manages 2,147 Sewa Kendras (1,758 in the rural and 389 in urban areas) where citizens avail essential service/records. These centres minimises public interaction, cuts red tape, enhances efficiency, and eliminates middlemen and corruption in the delivery of services in a time-bound manner.
With a daily footfall of close to 25,000, BLS International now aims at serving 50,000 citizens per day in the financial year 2017-18. To manage the gigantic project, BLS has employed as many as 4800 youths in Punjab and has become one of the largest private sector employers in the state.
These Sewa Kendras will provide 223 types of services to its citizens, when fully operational; of these, only 79 are being provided currently. Some of the services being provided through these Sewa Kendras are: Affidavit Attestation, Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates, Registration / Solemnization of Marriage under Marriage Acts; All services related to Arms Licences, Payment of Property Tax, Evaluation of Landed/immovable Property, Issue of Income certificate, Nationality and nativity certificate, Sanction for social security benefits to old age, handicapped, widow, Sanction of building plans, Transfer of ownership, Payment of Electricity Bills, Collection of Bills ( BSNL and PSPCL ), Aadhar related and Passport related services
Earlier BLS International had successfully activated all the 2,147 Sewa Kendras much ahead of the given timeframe. It had taken over the management of the erstwhile Suwidha Kendras previously run by the Punjab Government after winning the contract in May, 2016.
BLS International deployed state-of-art-technology to secure and maintain sensitive citizen data and personal details. The volume of applications that BLS International handles is mind boggling. Mr. Karan Aggarwal, Senior Vice-President, says, “On e-governance we have processed over 2 million applications this 2016-17. PM Modi seeks to provide rapid service to all our citizens. So this e-governance project is going to be a very big leap forward for the Digital India programme. It is going to help achieve Modi’s vision”
BLS International thanks the citizens of Punjab, government agencies, employees, technology partners and everyone connected with this project on reaching this milestone of 500,000 applications in March, 2017.
