OCI MISCELLANEOUS SERVICE – ONLINE UPDATION
Important Notice
* Evidence of self, parents, grandparents or great-grandparents previous Indian Passport, Birth Certificate, valid foreign passport held and local residential proof. If applying based upon OCI Card/ PIO Card of parents/grandparents or great-grandparents/spouse, the applicant should invariably submit copy of OCI Card/ PIO Card of parents/ grandparents or great grand-parents/spouse along with the base papers/documents upon which the OCI card/PIO Card was issued.
* If the applicant is below 21 years a NOC letter in original signed by both Parents is required.
*if the current OCI has been issued based on the spouse, a NOC letter in original signed by the Spouse is required.
*In the case of minor applicants, parents' documents are required in original and copies along with the application.
*It is mandatory to produce the original and copy of the Naturalisation/Citizenship certificate.
OCI Miscellaneous Service for online updation of Passport Particulars for OCI Card holders (Indian Origin and Spouse based) - Gratis
OCI Miscellaneous Services for online updation can be availed only by registered OCI Card holders. OCI registration booklet has got to be re-issued only once when a new passport is issued after completion of 20 years of age.
For applicants who are renewing their OCI first time after the completion of 20 years of age, it is compulsory to submit copies of the Indian renunciation certificate and cancelled Indian Passport.
Originals of the above documents need to produce for verification purposes and the same will be returned after the scrutiny.
2. The OCI web portal has been suitably modified under “OCI Miscellaneous Services” to facilitate OCI Cardholders to update details of new Passport and change of address Online. An OCI Cardholder is required to upload a copy of the new passport containing the photo of the OCI Cardholder and a latest photo on the online system under OCI Miscellaneous Services each time a new passport is issued upto 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age. These documents may be uploaded by the OCI Cardholder within three months of receipt of the new passport. This service will be provided on Gratis basis.
3. Spouse based OCI Card holders - In the case of those who have been registered as OCI Cardholder as spouse of foreign origin of a citizen of India or an OCI Cardholder shall upload a copy of the new passport containing the photo of the passport holder each time a new passport is issued. In such cases, the OCI Cardholder and his/ her Indian spouse or OCI Cardholder spouse will have to give a declaration that their marriage is still subsisting. Copy of the Indian passport of the Indian spouse / passport and OCI Card of the OCI Cardholder spouse shall also be uploaded in such cases. These documents may be uploaded by the OCI Cardholder foreigner spouse within three months of receipt of his/ her new passport. This service will be provided on Gratis basis.
4. A detailed instruction in order to fill Online Application form and requirement may be accessed at MHA website – https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome The procedure to avail the OCI Miscellaneous Services (Gratis) are -
- Applicant may apply online on https://ociservices.gov.in and opt for passport/address updation service under the OCI Miscellaneous Services, upload photograph and required documents.
- An auto email is sent to the applicant for successful upload of documents.
- Once the application is granted by the Ministry, details of the new passport, address and contact, as the case may be, get updated in OCI records and an auto email is sent to the applicant informing that changes have been made in his/ her OCI records. This will normally take approx 35-40 days since receipt of acknowledgement of the OCI application on their e-mail.
- Applicants are advised to await updates on their e-mail from the Ministry. No physical copy of OCI will be sent/ provided by the mission.
- Applicant may check status of their applications online on https://ociservices.gov.in under the “Status Enquiry” section.
- In the interim, should applicants require to travel to India, they may do so on the strength of their OCI Card and current new passport (provided there are no changes in personal particulars).
5. Documents to be uploaded :-
a) By those Registered as OCI Cardholder on the basis of Persons of Indian Origin (Self) :-
- Copy of new passport containing the photo.
- Size 51mm x 51mm
- Light Coloured Background
- Matte Finish
- Full Face to be shown
- Copy of Singapore NRIC of the applicant/ Utility/ Telephone Bill depicting the current address with relationship proof of the applicant with his immediate family member in case the utility bill is not in applicants name (in case of address update only)

Photographs that do not conform to the above standards will be rejected and may cause a delay in processing the application.
b) In the case of those registered as OCI Cardholder on spouse basis:-
- Copy of the new passport containing the photo
- Size 51mm x 51mm
- Light Coloured Background
- Matte Finish
- Full Face to be shown
- Declaration form both the spouse and the OCI Card holder that the marriage is subsisting.
- Indian passport of spouse (in case of those who spouse is an Indian citizen).
- Passport & OCI Card of spouse (In case of those whose spouse is an OCI Cardholder).

6. SPECIAL PERMISSION FOR OCI CARD HOLDERS FOR CERTAIN ACTIVITIES –
OCI Cardholders are required to obtain Special Permissionfrom concerned authorities to undertake certain activities in India. In order to make it convenient to such OCI Cardholders, a separate sub-portal under the name “Apply for Special Permission (Only for OCI Cardholders)” has been created in the Online OCI webportal at – https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome. The link has detailed instructions as well as documents required to be submitted. The link would facilitate such OCI cardholders to apply for Special Permission.
7. Please note that
a) The service for online updation of new Passport and change of address is being provided on ‘Gratis’ basis to the existing OCI Card holder.
b) Applicants are advised to fill up their correct personal particulars as in the supporting documents submitted and to furnish latest photograph as per specification given.
c) As per approval from MHA dated 26th March 2021, requirement of carrying old and new passports along with the OCI Card has been done away. Henceforth, the OCI Cardholders travelling on the strength of their existing OCI Card bearing old passport number are not required to carry their old passport. However, carrying of new (current) passport is mandatory.
